It’s almost the end of May and I’ve yet to meet my monthly contractual obligation to post about Chris Sharma. Since he has been slacking on the 5.15 crushing front now seems like a good time to share an interview he did at the Trento Film Festival.
Interviewed by Milwaukee native Kay Rush, Sharma talks about how he came to start grading his routes and how he got his name among other topics. The interview starts out in Italian but quickly switches to a more familiar tongue.
Part 1:
Part 2:
Despite the odd air of seriousness surrounding the interview that I largely attribute to not being used to seeing climbers interviewed on a stage, I really enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed the part where Rush calls Sharma “the John McEnroe of climbing” for his screaming. Let’s hope that’s where the similarities between the two end.
As a bonus, here is an interview Sharma did with Elephant Journal last year while in Colorado for the opening of the Prana store in Boulder.
