A couple of weeks back, there was a minor controversy at the Red River Gorge in Kentucky where two of the bolt hangers on Fifty Words For Pump (5.14c) were flattened by Adam Taylor. He apparently was unhappy over the existence of said bolts along with the (alleged) stealing of his project draws. A minor internet uproar was created, the hangers were promptly fixed and life went on. Not much has been heard online from Taylor since the initial uproar, but Joe Kinder has moved on by quickly sending the so-called line Fifty Words For Pump Right and bolting a new 5.14 project right next to it at Bob Marley.
The whole situation is obviously unimportant, especially in light of the tragic death of two local RRG climbers mere days after the controversy started, but it makes for good internet fodder. It apparently also makes for good rap lyrics as can be heard in climber-rapper ODub’s latest release “Fifty Words For Chump”. Check it out if you want a good laugh…
