2008 Triple Crown Bouldering Series: Hound Ears Results

The Triple Crown Bouldering Series is an outdoor bouldering competition series that is held each fall at Hound Ears, NC, Horse Pens 40, AL and The Stone Fort, TN.  With 3 time defending series champ Paul Robinson in Europe, it is assured a new champion will be crowned for the men.  It should be interesting to see how things unfold.

This past weekend was the first installment of the 2008 Triple Crown. Here are the Open category results from the Hound Ears leg of the series.  Full results can be found here or here

Open – Women
3 – Alex Puccio/Cocca 8153
2 – Kate McGinnis 8462
1 – Alex Johnson 8745

Open – Men
3 – Wills Young 11250
2 – Jimmy Webb 12425
1 – Jon Glassberg 12788

It is interesting to note that 5 of the 6 top 3 finishers across the men’s and women’s open fields are different than last year with only Kate McGinnis making the top 3 both years.

Update:  Deadpoint mag has a report up with some quality photos to boot!

My friends checked it out and said the comp was awesome wish I could have been there. Nice job to all the top finishers in each category.

Perhaps next year will the year I finally participate. Althought it is a bit expensive and impractical to travel all that way for one day of climbing. But then again what isn’t impractical about most things climbing related…
