best post title ever. 8a.nu is about as useful for cogent discourse as malaria is for an endurance runner.
This last suggestion is the worst yet. This is somewhat predictable: 8a doesn’t have the best track record in terms of psychological diagnoses. After all, someone isn’t stroking his ego when he downgrades routes: he’s just being brave and humble. At least the brave and humble thing is just misguided and stupid, not offensive.
Agreed.
They often wonder why they get criticized. Part of it has to do with being one of the largest sites. However it is most often the case that their opinions offered do not coincide with the majority of climbers. Their opinions are also usually offered as fact as opposed to topics for discussion.
I’m not sure if it is a language barrier thing or what…
